Hey guys!
My move to Franklin, TN is almost complete! Unfortunately, the router I ordered wasn't the one I really wanted, so I had to return it and get another. That doesn't really affect you guys, but it did put me back a week on testing the connections here and moving the backend of the game. If all goes well, I will have everything completely tested on this end by Saturday. If it all holds, I plan on driving up to Louisville, KY (my former home, and the location of the 5 backed PCs that run this game) Saturday evening to prepare for a move to Franklin on Sunday, July 12th. Here is my our potential schedule : Saturday, July 11th : I should know by early in the day if everything is a go. If it is, I will move up the races scheduled on Sunday, July 12th to run early on that morning (I will likely stagger their runtime between 7:00 AM EST and 9:00 AM EST). Sunday, July 12th : Once all of the scheduled races on July 12th are complete, I will take the game offline. I expect this to occur around 9:30 AM EST. I will then backup the entire game (which can take a bit of time) and (CAREFULLY) load the computers into my car. I'll probably also do a "front end" server updates as well. Considering I'll also have my rugrats with me, I expect this part to take at least a couple of hours. We'll assume that I can be packed and (thumbs up!) RTG by Noon EST. I will then start my 3+ hour trek to Franklin. Once here, I will begin unloading the computers and hooking them up. If all works well, however, I should complete this part in ~2 hours, but I will buffer in an extra hour, just because I always mess up something when it comes to hardware hookups... :P So if all goes as planned, we should be back online around 7:00 PM EST. There is a CHANCE that something goes completely wonky here. If so, I may have to keep the game offline for the rest of the evening and head back to Louisville the next day to hook everything back up while I troubleshoot here. Trust me - I DON'T WANT THAT! If that happens and the the game is down into the next day, at least take comfort in the fact that you are having a much better day than I am.... :/ So to recap, IF everything works out well - The runtime for the Sunday, July 12th races will be moved up with a runtime between 7:00 AM - 9:00 AM EST. The game will be temporarily shut down from approximately 9:30 AM - 7:00 PM. Wish me luck! --Mike |
